The problem

Whales are an endangered species and there is a lack of funding for them. Some of the charity work is through the community groups and individuals who are to busy to attend them need a different way to give back.

The goal

To make it easier for people to adopt and donate money to whales.

User research: summary

Unmoderated user research was conducted

I conducted a research based on competitors and also a field research on how the users interacted with the features.  Adding new features such as a profile to view the whale was made as well making the detail page divided.

Paper wireframes
Digital wireframes

  • Making the home page easy to use and have lots of pictures to tell the story

  • This will allow them to see how many things they can get by adopting

  • A donation page so that easy donations can be made

  • Showing lots of images to show how badly whales need help

Usability study: parameters

Usability study: findings

Mockups

  • Made a new page for the whales to be looked at that was adopted

  • The users thought information was all at the top bar and a search bar was useful so it was changed to be at bottom

Impact

There has been compliments on how easy it is to view and the colours that have a good aesthetic. The application and website have good navigation with the balance of including enough information.

I have learned a lot from iterations and for designing for different screens whilst keeping the same look.
